Season 2011 for the Red Deer Titans Senior Men's teams started promising with good numbers for both team in early season training. Although the coach was a little late arriving, the early signs for the season looked good with a couple of narrow losses to the gran final teams of 2010. Again, with a lot of new faces, a bunch of foreign labour and a coach with a resume capable of taking Canada to the world cup, both the first and third division teams gelled well on and off the field. Unfortunately, that is about where the season fell apart. Due to work commitments, family ties and the dreaded injury list, the players fell like flies and the playing stocks were stretched beyond their limit. This is when the true strength of the club shines, with the U-19's stepping up to fill the game sheets in both divisions and play out of their skins. With both teams towards the end of the season missing 12 regular starters each, no one expected the thirds to come within 10 points of the eventual champs and play some outstanding rugby. This was a true indicator that the club, even with around 24 blokes missing, can play some competitive rugby and is in a strong position for next year.

Season 2011 may not have been the greatest on the field with both teams narrowly missing a final birth but off the field was another gem. With costume parties, Maggot Fest and Bo's Bar and Grill joing as the pub sponsor, there were many fantastic evenings and hazy Sunday mornings enjoyed by friend and family. This all on the eve of the Titan's 40th anniversary, so I'd say the club is in a good position to take the competition by the horns and become a power house of the Alberta competition in the future.
