Mid July Results – Playoffs, Exhibitions, and Summer Rugby

It’s been a busy summer since the kids got out of school!  The July long weekend features the Alberta Regional Competition, featuring regional teams from all over Alberta and a few from Saskatchewan!  Titans sent several Central Alberta representative teams including U16 boys and girls and U18 boys and girls.  Of particular note were the U18 boys finishing second in the standings!  Great work by all athletes and coaches!

After the ARC, a large number of Central Alberta Titans Elite athletes were selected to represent Alberta.  See the Rugby Alberta Facebook page for more details!

July 5th featured that big exhibition game between the Titans Senior Men and the Outback Barbarians from Australia.  After competing very well for most of the match, the superior accents of the Aussies won out as they cruised to a 54 – 7 victory.  After which they cheated in the boat races, but that’s another story for another time!

Monday July 11th the U15 boys laced up for their first playoff game against the Canucks and came away with the WIN 27 – 12.

July 12 featured another exhibition game between the Titans Senior men and the RAPTC Royal British Army trainers.  This match was a tough test for the Titans men, and in the end the RAPTC came away with a hard fought win 27 – 17.  Pictures of the match courtesy Audrey!

Saturday July 16th featured several matches:

  • Our U13 boys advanced to the Provincial Finals with wins in the Calgary City finals!
  • The U18 girls had a HUGE win over the Hornets 54 – 12
  • The U18 boys lost a close one to the Hornets in Calgary 24 – 17 (unofficial score)

Westerner Days is next week, so all hands on deck!
