Well the day has come and gone, but the memories of this Canada day will last forever in this club.
I wanted to let everyone know that I have received nothing, but positive feed back from Rugby Canada and all of the visiting teams. So much the England has decided to stay in Red Deer and will be training at the pitch tomorrow at 11am. Both captains from Team Canada and Team USA said that the energy, atmosphere and the facility was fantastic. They both personally commented that they wanted to come back. Team Canada has presented us with a plaque as well that will be hung in the clubhouse. The New Zealand Black Ferns could not believe the hospitality, setup and support that we offered them. We have set the bar!
Canada Day was a great day for the club and we want to thank everyone involved. Big thank you to all of the committee members investing the time and efforts into organizing this superb event. The countless hours of preparation and meetings were all worth it.
Most important of all though, we want to thank the volunteers who stepped up to help out. It could not have been done with out all of you. Unfortunately, there are too many of you to name individually, but the support and willingness to help out was unmatched and even Rugby Canada said that we made it easy for them. Well done Titans!! I cannot personally thank you enough.
I told Rugby Canada that we expect them to come back.
One very proud Titan,
Also, a word from Deb Ashmore of Rugby Alberta:
Thanks Red Deer for an amazing day of rugby on Canada Day You have proven that you can play with the big dogs when it comes to hosting events. A huge thank you to your organizing committee and all the volunteers, It was a real pleasure to see every volunteer with a smile on their face and so eager to help. The icing on the cake was watching the youngest Titans escort the teams onto the fields. Scores: New Zealand vs England (26 – 7) , Canada VS USA 36 -28. Absolutely fantastic job Red Deer, thank you!
